A great game in its own right, and everyone should a least give it a try, however, if you're as tired of WWII games as I am it might not hold you that long. CoH is pretty and the cover system and resource management is neat, but being based on WWII you obviously limit your choices in playable sides. It plays/feels a lot like DoW, so if you're familiar with that this will be pretty easy to learn. I have all of those games (well, only the C&C demo for now).Just got CoH, so I don't have a ton of play time with it yet. I guess we'll find out for sure in what, 4 days now? My opinion is based just on the demo though, so it likely doesn't count for too much. However, in DoW, battles could go back and fourth, and I found those close and messy fights to be more entertaining than the sterility of SupCom.As to C&C3, I would say it's easily closest to DoW (though with larger unit throughput), but lacking the polish or character that DoW has. Besides, DoW's 7 races (?) provide more variety than SC's 3 anyways. In SupCom, the battles tend to be somewhat decisive. However, strategic depth alone doesn't make a game I will play for months with friends, like I did with DoW. View image here: -) Though if I had to say which was best in terms of gameplay concept, I would easily vote for SupCom. Thus, I have a personal preference towards the sort of gameplay that DoW offers. How many people have tried all of them? Which do you like the most? ĬoH was a great game, but IMO, it was a lot like a slightly more chaotic 40k with a WWII skin set, and many of us are pretty sick of any WWII related games.SupCom obviously wins on scale of combat and depth of strategy, but it lacks what some would call flavor or character. And for those reasons, my vote goes to DoW, but I think that's only because I like stuff to look cool, and I prefer to manage fewer units. How does it compare to the other three big RTS games? How many have tried at least two or three of those? What gets the play time these days? How many people have tried all of them? Which do you like the most? Virtually no environment to interact with, but the ability to zoom way out and control the war from an economy standpoint instead focusing on a few units. And finally Command and Conquer 3 is out. Instead of a few very detailed units like CoH, or even DC in relation to SupCom, it was all about setting up a base and cranking out big numbers. Very similar game play to CoH, but set in a cool sci-fi universe instead of WW2.Then Supreme Commander came out as the spiritual successor to Total Annihilation. Top notch gfx, super detail, great physics, and a very fast aggressive pace. Then the Warhammer 40,000 : Dawn of War : Dark Crusade 'expansion' came out allowing player to join the DoW universe, without owning the original title. Fully destructible and buildable environments allowing for cover to change and allowing the player to use the environment to force their opponent to change their tactics. Company of Heroes came out last Sept and really raised the bar for an RTS.
